Our Work

 

Supremacy, in all of its manifestations, underpins all forms of discrimination. Addressing supremacist ideologies, therefore, requires a systems-level approach that understands root causes, dismantles unjust systems, and creates innovative pathways to equity.

Traditional advocacy often overlooks this complexity, leaving systemic barriers intact.

ICAAD equips those most harmed by systemic inequity with the necessary tools to become leaders in driving systemic change.

We work at the intersection of legal innovation and design justice, building the capacity of marginalized communities as systems-level change makers, offering a creative space for innovation, and strategically connecting those with greater influence to the data and insights that increase their capacity for informed and meaningful action.

Ultimately, we support local communities and governments to bring about transformations in the policies, practices and mindsets that form the basis of how we live together.

Our Approach

 

We believe that transdisciplinary insights are key to developing innovative solutions. We combine legal expertise, data and emerging technology, strategic partnerships, human rights education, and the arts to develop one-of-a-kind solutions to human rights challenges.

Our interventions are built for lasting impact, and include:

• Tracking gender bias in judicial decision-making

• Developing a legal standard to support climate migrants

• Advocating for better data collection and law enforcement training to know the real scope of hate crimes in the US

• Providing human rights training to students, government officials and civil society

• Assisting asylum-seekers who are unfairly detained

• Promoting activism through the arts

Our Impact

ICAAD is a US-based tax-exempt 501(c)(3) human rights organization, founded in 2012. It maintains special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and several national governments.
