NOV 3, 2024
Dear Pagri Supporter,
Please support us by donating during the November 8-17, 2024. During this time Dasvandh will match your donations 100% up to $400, until their matching funds run out. So please donate early on November 8-10 to be sure your support is doubled!!
We thank you for your support, with which we have been able to do much. But we have just gotten started and need to do much more to help Punjab’s farmers and transform Punjab’s agriculture. For Punjab to survive, we need to make farming viable and profitable. We also desperately need activities that will help save water and stop groundwater depletion while increasing farm productivity, while stopping air and water pollution. We need your support to help farmers to diversify out of wheat and rice into horticulture, millets, pulses, and oil seeds.
OUR MISSION
· To train farmers to adopt organic or natural farming by reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
· To start their own Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) to keep the financial gains to themselves and not be exploited by middlemen.
· To help farmers start Poultry Farming which can integrate better with their farms and help increase their incomes.
· To guide farmers to conserve water, recharge groundwater (with canal water and water harvesting) and grow crops better with less water (like the direct seeding of rice without the water flooding technique).
OUR GEOGRAPHICAL REACH
Besides revitalizing our activities in the Faridkot area, we have started new activities in the districts of Muktsar and Bhatinda. At all three places we have Farmer Sevadars who are helping farmers with activities to implement our mission.
In 2023, we have implemented projects in poultry farming, organic kitchen gardens, held training camps, helped them with marketing and done flood relief activities. More details of these activities can be found in our projects on Mini-Integrated Farming and Educating Farmers in Organic Agriculture that you can see elsewhere on Dasvandh.
We have reached out to and are using the resources at the following institutions: Punjab Agricultural University (PAU- Ludhiana), Haryana Agricultural University (Hissar, Haryana), Horticultural University (Himachal Pradesh), and Guru Nanak Dev University (Amritsar).
Please donate here or donate for either of the two Pagri Projects.
Your support is vital for the farmers of Punjab and for Punjab’s agriculture. Please donate!
