Microsoft Excel Certified Course
1. In order to enhance the employability and job prospects of the children of rural areas in Punjab it was realized that knowledge of computers and expertise in MS Excel is necessary. With this aim Satnam Sarab Kalyan Trust planned to conduct online MS Excel training for the village children to teach them Data management and organisation, financial & business analysis and enhance productivity by automation thus leading to better employability and career advancement.
2. The first batch of MS Excel started in Oct 2023. Eleven meritorious students from economically weaker background were selected from rural areas of Punjab. They were imparted online Microsoft certified training having worldwide accreditation through a Mumbai based professional institute. At the end of the course the students underwent an exam and were awarded certificates from Microsoft Corp. The course was free of cost and no fee was charged from the students for the course and certification exam. A nominal registration fee and a refundable security deposit was only taken to ensure students remain committed. The course was very popular among the students and for the next batch 52 students signed up. We are now plan to conduct this course on a regular basis in future.
English Speaking Course
3. Students of rural Punjab lag behind in English as compared to their counterparts from other states and particularly from children with urban background. This we realized when we sponsored students for Banking Courses. The students had good grades but as the final interview was in English these children lack confidence and often do not get selected though they have good academic grades. Same is the case with other job interviews also.
4. Therefore to make these students proficient in spoken English Satnam Sarab Kalyan Trust has started conducting online English Speaking Course in Jan 2025. The instructor for this course is based in UK and in addition we have a mentor who is based in USA. Thus students are given a good exposure of British English as well as American English. The course is absolutely free for the students.
5. Considering the popularity and usefulness of the course we plan to conduct this course on a regular basis in future.
Course on Artificial Intelligence
6. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a valuable skill for students across various disciplines including computer science, mathematics, engineering and data science. Its potential in industries like healthcare, finance, marketing and education is immense. Therefore students who can learn and utilize the potential of AI will have vast opportunities. Unfortunately this subject has not yet been introduced in the syllabus of the schools and even the teachers are not conversant with this topic. However if our children have to compete with others they must be abreast with technology and latest trends and they must know AI.
7. Thus we plan to introduce the concept and give basic exposure on AI to students of Class 8 onwards on this subject. We are at an advanced stage of discussion for finalizing this program and plan to conduct it regularly from this year onwards.
