Camp Sikh Virsa is biannual Sikh youth camp that has been in existence since 1994 serving the Sikh community mainly in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan. We host camps every Thanksgiving and Memorial Day weekend.
What makes our camp unique is that it is solely focused on children aged 7 to 14. We spend 3 months prior to each camp creating new, fresh lesson plans designed to keep our youngest Sikh brothers and sisters engaged by minimizing lecture and utilizing games and activities to keep their attention.
Because we don't ever want cost to be the reason a family can not send their child to camp, we have not increased our registration fees, despite rising campsite costs over the last 20+ years. Along with sponsoring kids from low income families, we also subsidize the cost of our counselors, most of which are high school and college students.
Your donations allow us to continue this seva!
While we do have a donation link on our website, we hope to encourage people to donate through Dasvandh Week. It's hard to get people to donate further when the camp fee is already a significant amount for many families in our sangat. By connecting with other members of the national community, we hope those who are in a better financial situation can help us continue our seva and ensure it's as accessible as possible.
