Our story is about the intersection of diversity and religious freedom in the US military. More than a decade ago, a few Sikh soldiers challenged the US Army and were granted a historic religious accommodation that helped pave the way for thousands of religious minotiries from a variety of religious backgrounds to be able to serve freely. This struggle to serve is an inspiring and patriotic story that uplifts immigrant and minority communities. We dig into the history behind the Sikh articles of faith and our proud military heritage while also exploring institutionalized racism in the military.

We follow the historic journey of Sikh soldiers in the US military. With a coalition of supporters, the US Army and Air Force changed their uniform policies to allow Sikhs and other religious minorities to serve with their articles of faith. The US Marine Corps will not allow Sikhs to serve with our articles of faith. This is a fight for our Sikh identity and yet it begs the question - what does an American soldier look like? Does military uniformity mean that we must all look the same? There is a sacrifice that comes with service, and we intend to help show both the beauty and pain that comes with that service.
