A word from leadership
Executive Director Mandeep Singh frames the year around our mission to inspire Sikhs to give dasvandh in support of high-impact activism, powered by investments in staff, operations, marketing, and partnerships.
New product: AutoDasvandh
The headline launch was AutoDasvandh, a new product letting donors automate monthly giving in four simple steps, whether to organizations, issue areas, or specific project stages, so they can "set it and forget it."
Platform & donors
Our platform reached 10,000 users, with an average donation of $224 and average recurring gift of $45. Organizations raised an average of $29K each; 30 new organizations and projects joined.
Initiative highlights
DasvandhWeek raised $710K in pledges in 10 days (42% YoY growth), the largest global Sikh digital fundraiser. We also ran 10+ strategic partner campaigns and DasvandhSeries donor events, and launched an activist Slack hub with refreshed partnership policies.
In their words
Partners including the Riaan Research Initiative (funding a first-of-its-kind Cockayne syndrome drug study), Anhad Magazine, and Nishkam's Digital Literacy Project shared the tangible reach of the funding they raised through DVN.
Financials
Operating income (~$215,916) came from board contributions (50%), tip revenue (23%), and individual donations (17%); expenses (~$343,582) were led by salaries (55%) and marketing (24%), with the gap met from cash reserves.
Team & board
The report profiles our staff and interns and our 18-member board, which granted $575K to 9 nonprofits at its Dallas annual meeting, bringing total grant-giving to $6M+. It also sets out our 2023 goals to raise $2.5M on-platform and grow AutoDasvandh.
