“As a Helpline volunteer and supporter of the Sikh Family Center, I have witnessed firsthand the lifesaving work undertaken every day. I was previously unaware of the alarming number of Sikh women in the United States who find themselves in extremely violent and dangerous home situations, in many cases without any support from family or friends. Compounding this, is the cultural stigma many feel about asking for help.”
– Sikh Family Center Peer Counselor, 2024
While we trained more peer counselors in 2024 to support our Helpline, we have seen an almost 200% increase in calls - a stark reminder of the growing need for our services. In the year ahead, in order to ensure we sustain quality culturally specific support services, we NEED to hire more staff.

The generous contributions from sangat members remain life-changing for survivors. Recently, we were able to extend our support to an immigrant mother of two young children.
Thanks to your kindness, we provided her with:
Peer counselors also provided safety planning, emotional support, and appropriate referrals -- these services significantly eased her burden as she navigated a challenging situation.

How your contribution now can continue to make a difference:
Donations will fund hiring, training and paying the salary of a person who coordinates various programs that directly interface with survivors of trauma. We have always had lean staffing, and will always activate grassroots volunteers: but it's beyond time the only national Sikh organization focused on gender justice has more full-time staff.
Thank you, every dollar provides hope! Your ongoing support empowers survivors as they forge paths towards safety and independence.
